The reusable pods aren't wasteful, but you brought up a good point.
My biggest complaint about the pods other than the waste produced is the
utterly crap quality of most prepackaged pods and the weak strength. When
I've tried them, I found myself having to use two pods to make a decent
sized cup of coffee.
When you consider the extra hassle of refilling pods and keeping them
clean, it's not worth the effort.
