[Homeroast] Clarifying Coffee

The following add appeared in the Clarksville, Texas Northern
Standard, on September 1, 1854:
"ISINGLASS 25 lbs of this article, the best yet discovered for
clarifying coffee, and much more economical than eggs for sale by
Wooten & Williams"
That would have been boiled coffee, which remained the norm in
Clarksville until well into the twentieth century when the percolator
became generally used. Isinglass did not replace egg-whites for
minimizing coffee grounds.
