[Homeroast] Seattle roaster

Agree that in Seattle Espresso Vivace makes wonderful espressos. If you are on the "Eastside" (Bellevue, Kirkland or Redmon), a microroaster Caffé Lusso (Phil Lusso) has great roasts and will gladly make you an espresso with your choice of beans if you can find his roastery (a little hard to find -- in a warehouse area of Redmond). Their website www.caffelusso.com .

I'm in Seattle for the week. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cafe or roaster. Looking for a proper espresso.

Thanks

Caffe d'Arte as well (especially their wood-fired roaster).

It was definitely strongest in the first week. I had one batch that rested for something like 8 or 10 days and I found it drinkable. Anything sooner than that and the smell just drove me crazy.

My roast was pretty much full heat until first crack (somewhere in the 13 minute range to first) and then backing off and coasting along for just shy of 3 minutes past the start of first before cooling down. Second should have began around 3:30 or 4 past the start of first.

Most of it was brewed in a Technivorm using the fill/stir method.

I'm pulling from memory here (notes at home), but I've dug it pretty well.
I tend to heavier bodied brews. IIRC, mine would have been FC most
likely. I need to roast a batch tonight, so maybe I'll drop the Burundi in
and see if I get anything similar.

How much rest did you give the roast? Brew methods, or did you get that
far?

Nothing like a good argument/discussion to get things going.

I guess some good did come from the argument about distilled water, seems
like that, and the discussion of reviews got people posting again!!

You know something's happening when the unsubscribe posts start showing up

The ONLY place I go is Peruginos. I wanted to like the places that
serve Stumptown, but it good to 'by the book'.

I've never understood why Eugene isn't filled with specialty coffee. I'll
be on town tomorrow and check it out!

Thanks!

Just roasted the last portion of my Saris Abaya. Went a little darker than
I wanted to (not paying attention like I should) but day 1 post-roast I had
blueberries. Should be even better with a few more days rest. Funny that
I didn't notice blueberries with the lighter roasts I did earlier, and only
got them on my last bit.

Try Caffe Victrola, esp at their Roastery on Pike Street. I've got a lot of respect for Perry, their head roaster. They also have a cupping open to the public Wednesdays at 11:00.
