[Homeroast] hacking a silvia portafilter

I have a *$$ Barista, same as Estro I think, and same issue. That is, I looked 
at it the other day with the idea of cutting off the bottom, but it didn't look 
possible without destroying the thread that the handle screws into.

do you think you could snap a picture?  i'm not sure i'm wrapping my head around 
what your describing but think i'm in a similar boat with the Estro machine i
