Well, some of the criteria are truly "enlightening":

>> Have > six month shelf life at ambient temperature
>> Be 'generally recognized as safe' (GRAS) or approved for food use

It's nice to know they are hoping to use something food-like for this

I just finished my monthly latte ... still have a couple a month... research
purposes, ya know!
